Hoda Kotb wasn't going to skip out on her kids' first day of school.
The Today co-anchor brought her daughters Haley, 7, and Hope, 5, to their first days of second grade and kindergarten, respectively, on Sept. 3.
Hoda—wearing a Team USA Olympics zip-up—flashed a big smile while standing in her driveway next to her daughters in a photo she shared on Instagram.
"First day of school in the books," she captioned the post, which also featured an adorable clip of Haley and Hope hugging as Haley lifted her little sister up into the air.
The daytime personality took the day off from theNBC morning show to take part in her daughters' first day back after their summer vacation, which included a big move out of New York City to the suburbs.
"Everything changed like that!" the 60-year-old told co-host Jenna Bush Hager on the Sept. 4 episode of the show. "I have a whole new town, a whole new school and all the new things. I carried coffee, and I had sneakers and I walked with my kids to schol like normal people. It was awesome!"
Hoda discussed her move out of the big city on the morning show throughout the summer, but noted that it didn't happen until August.
"We've had seven great years in the city with the kids and that's amazing," she said. "But I also think kids need to have their feet in the grass and dirt."
For Hoda, the move to the suburbs is indicative of a larger change in mentality that she's undergone recently.
"I feel like I’m in this repotting phase of my life,” Hoda, who split from fiancé Joel Schiffman in January 2022, explained on her podcast Making Space in August. “I just feel it. I feel like my roots need a bigger pot, in all kinds of things. I’m physically moving with my kids, which was a big deal for us.”
